Strategic Plan 2005-2010

About us

SAHAYOG’s strategic plan was developed in 2005 as a result of a 5-year strategic review and consultative processes with staff, board members and stakeholders. The purpose of this review was to evaluate the organization’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as look at the opportunities and needs in the external environment.

The review identified the following five strategic issues that SAHAYOG will focus on from 2005-2010:

  • Maternal Health and Rights: Promoting women's right to Maternal Health – from community to policy level; access and entitlement issues.

  • Work with Men and Boys: Working on Gender Equality, Masculinity and ending Violence Against Women.

  • Violence Against Women: Providing support to women survivors of domestic violence, caste-based or communal violence.

  • Youth Rights: Working with youth on Sexual and Reproductive Rights and Health.

  • Gender Equality: Promoting women’s citizenship and political participation; Gender Budget monitoring.

The major strategies adopted by SAHAYOG include:

  • Information resource centre (research and documentation, producing and disseminating information material, use of Information Technology)

  • Capacity building and technical support on issues (with partners and clients such as donors, government and other agencies)

  • Advocacy through networks such as Healthwatch Forum (doing monitoring and advocacy on reproductive heath and rights), MASVAW (Men’s Action for Stopping Violence Against Women), UP Women’s State-level Coalition (to enhance political participation of women), CHAYAN (UP network on rights to choice of sexual partners) and partnerships like HUMSAFAR (Crisis Support Centre for Women in Lucknow) and WHRAP (Women’s Health and Rights Advocacy Partnership-South Asia)
