Gender Festival for International Women’s Day
On International Women’s Day, 8th March, SAHAYOG supports partners
throughout U.P. to hold “Gender Melas” (Festivals) for young people,
organized with the help of the local MASVAW partners. At these
festivals, various games and competitive activities are organized for
children that encourage them to think about changing gender roles and
stereotypes. These include races for boys in which they have to roll out
perfectly round chapattis, or carry a pot on their heads or stitch on a
button, and races for girls in which they have to change a light-bulb,
or tighten screws or ride a bicycle.
