Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights - Campaigns
|
An important aspect of the “Youth for Change” program is the
incorporation of youth in the celebration of special days and campaigns.
These opportunities expand participants’ knowledge of sexual and
reproductive health and rights, among other social issues, as well as
give them their first tastes of participation in advocacy and awareness
building events.

Ab to Jaago, Domestic Violence Act Campaign, 26 November to
10 December, 2008
“Youth for Change” youth groups participated in a sixteen-day,
state-wide campaign called Ab to Jaago (Wake up Now) to support the
Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005. Some of the Ab to
Jaago activities in which youth participated include: Road Shows, Candle
Marches, Seminars, Cycle Rallies, Poster Competitions, Wall Writing,
Street Plays. Youth expressed that they thoroughly enjoyed the
activities, and also learned for the first time about their right to a
violence-free life.
