Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights - Research

Quantitative Research on Youth Knowledge of SRHR (Ongoing)

This initial baseline study will collect information on youth perceptions and needs related to SRHR. This information will be used for two objectives. Firstly, assessment of young people’s current understanding of SRHR will guide the design of the educational curriculum used by Youth for Change youth groups. Secondly, the young women and men who will exercise leadership and advocacy roles need to have a strong evidence base to mobilize large numbers of youth to demand a youth SRHR policy that will ensure sensitive and appropriate information and services for young people.

Towards this, the study will examine the knowledge, attitudes and practices of the young women and men aged between 13-24 years regarding the various aspects of YSRHR.

Qualitative Research on Stakeholders Attitudes towards SRHR (Ongoing)

Given the ongoing debate in many states of India (including Uttar Pradesh) about providing sexual health information in schools, we need to know what the positive attitudes and barriers of stakeholders in the Youth for Change communities towards SRHR information and services. These stakeholders will include educators, parents, health service providers, elected representatives and political groups at various levels.
